  • OBJECTIFS:

The Licence in Applied Cybersecurity aims to train highly qualified professionals capable of addressing the growing and complex challenges of digital security. The program is developed within the framework of a strategic partnership between Abdelmalek Essaadi University and the Higher Education Without Borders (HEWB) Foundation, and aligns with Morocco’s national digital transformation strategy.

This program has several key objectives:

  • To offer rigorous and practice-oriented training that meets the increasing demand for cybersecurity professionals at both regional and national levels.
  • To equip students with the skills required to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats, as well as to secure digital infrastructures and protect sensitive data.
  • To foster innovation through a student-centered pedagogical model that integrates hybrid learning (in-person, synchronous and asynchronous), project-based learning, and hands-on labs.
  • To contribute to the diversification of the Faculty’s academic offering, ensuring territorial equity in access to high-demand digital skills training.
  • To support graduates' integration into the job market by aligning the curriculum with international standards and certifications (e.g., Security+, CySA+, CEH).
  • Upon graduation, students will be immediately operational and ready to support public and private organizations in their cybersecurity needs, whether in auditing, incident response, digital forensics, or secure system design.
  • COMPETENCES :

Throughout the program, students will progressively develop a set of technical, methodological, and transversal competencies tailored to the realities of the cybersecurity profession.

Graduates of the Licence in Applied Cybersecurity will be able to:

  • Analyze and assess cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities in systems, networks, applications, and data infrastructures.
  • Implement and manage defense mechanisms, such as firewalls, SIEM tools, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and encryption protocols.
  • Conduct incident response and digital investigations using forensic tools and techniques, including memory analysis, log inspection, and recovery of deleted data.
  • Perform ethical hacking and penetration testing to identify and report system flaws, in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Apply international cybersecurity standards and frameworks, such as NIST, ISO 27001, OWASP Top 10, and MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing clear documentation, reports, and recommendations.
  • Use a range of cybersecurity tools and platforms, including Wireshark, Splunk, OpenVAS, Metasploit, and various Linux/Windows utilities.
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, manage projects, and demonstrate leadership in securing digital assets.
  • Engage in continuous learning and adaptation, in a fast-evolving digital threat landscape.

These competencies will prepare graduates to assume roles such as Security Analyst, SOC Operator, Cybersecurity Auditor, Digital Forensics Investigator, Penetration Tester, or Security Consultant.

Morocco’s cybersecurity sector is undergoing significant growth, driven by accelerated digital transformation, the increasing reliance on digital infrastructure across industries, and a sharp rise in cyber threats. As organizations across public and private sectors face growing risks to data, systems, and critical services, there is a rapidly expanding demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals. This demand is further reinforced by the Moroccan government’s National Cybersecurity Strategy and its commitment to digital sovereignty.

Graduates of the Licence in Applied Cybersecurity will be equipped with the technical, analytical, and operational competencies needed to access a wide range of cybersecurity roles. These positions span multiple sectors, including banking, telecommunications, government, defense, consulting, healthcare, and emerging tech industries. Below are representative examples of real-life job titles and functions that are accessible to program graduates in the Moroccan job market:

  • Cybersecurity Analyst / Information Security Analyst
    Monitor and defend digital systems by detecting threats, analyzing vulnerabilities, and responding to incidents.
  • Penetration Tester (Ethical Hacker)
    Simulate cyberattacks to identify and report security weaknesses before malicious actors exploit them.
  • Network Security Engineer
    Design, implement, and manage secure network infrastructures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems.
  • Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst
    Work within a dedicated SOC team to provide real-time threat monitoring, incident triage, and forensic analysis.
  • Information Security Officer (ISO)
    Develop and enforce organizational cybersecurity policies, conduct risk assessments, and ensure legal and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, Moroccan data protection law).
  • Incident Response Specialist
    Lead or support the immediate response to cyber incidents such as ransomware attacks, data breaches, or system intrusions, including root cause analysis and digital forensics.
  • Cybersecurity Consultant
    Advise companies or public institutions on cybersecurity strategy, architecture, risk mitigation, and implementation of best practices and compliance standards.
  • Cybersecurity Administrator
    Manage and configure security tools such as firewalls, antivirus solutions, EDR (Endpoint Detection & Response), and access control systems.
  • Threat Intelligence Analyst
    Identify, track, and analyze cyber threats by monitoring hacker activity, malware developments, and emerging attack vectors.
  • Cybersecurity Operator (Tier 1/2 Technician)
    Handle initial security alerts, collect indicators of compromise, escalate incidents, and support security infrastructure.
  • Cloud Security Specialist
    Ensure security of cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure), including access control, secure deployment, and compliance audits.
  • Digital Forensics Analyst
    Investigate digital evidence in the aftermath of cyber incidents to support legal or internal inquiries.

These roles are in demand across a range of employers in Morocco, such as major banks , telecom operators, cybersecurity firms, consulting companies, public institutions, and innovation ecosystems like Casablanca Technopark.

The program also prepares students to pursue industry-recognized certifications (e.g., CEH, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CySA+), and develop portfolios that enhance employability in both local and international markets.
